Two-Lane Highway Capacity Estimation Based on Geometric Features

چکیده

Abstract The majority of roads in most countries are two-lane highways. These lanes quickly reach their capacity and must be upgraded on a regular basis. To do so, we first determine the street. primary objective this study was to effect carriageway width, radius horizontal curve, gradients Passenger Car Unit (PCU) values as well undivided Highways, more importantly, develop multiple linear regression model highway when all these factors present, which has not been previously reported. Green shield’s used estimate each element for thirty-six sections using flow speed data. Different models were built analysis independently, combined developed result. It noted that with proportionate increases width there is an equivalent rise PCU capacity, providing improved comfort safety road users. also discovered value gradient cause increase but decreases, thereby increasing vehicle operating cost. Where characteristics present simultaneously section, resulting proven appropriate. believed valuable practitioners development or revision Indian manuals.

Analysis on Traffic Conflicts of Two-lane Highway Based on Improved Cellular Automation Model

Based on microscopic traffic characteristics of two-lane highway and different driving characteristics for drivers, the characteristics of drivers and vehicle structure are introduced into Cellular Automation model for establishing new Cellular Automation model of two-lane highway. Through computer simulation, the paper analyzes the effect of the promotion of different vehicles, drivers and arr...

The 1985 Highway Capacity Manual and Road User Costs for Two - Lane Roads

R oad user cost is an important consideration in highway economic analyses. The two main components of this cost are (a) motorvehicle running cost and (b) travel time. Highway engineers and economists know that, for road user costs (running costs plus travel time), lower traffic volume usually provides the least unit cost; as volume increases, the cost to the user increases because of congestio...

Using Agent-Based Simulation to Determine an Optimal Lane-Changing Strategy on a Multi-Lane Highway

Lane changing can increase or impede the flow of vehicular traffic, depending on traffic density and the lane-changing strategies used by individual drivers. We implement and extend the Nagel-Schreckenberg (N-S) traffic model as an agent-based model to investigate lane-changing behavior on a multi-lane roadway, with the goal of determining which lane changing strategies result in the greatest o...

Dynamic Traffic Assignment for Automated Highway Systems: A Two-lane Highway with Speed Constancy

Dynamic traffic assignment through analytical modeling and optimization has been widely accepted by the IVHS R&D community as a promising traffic control tool for understanding and relieving traffic congestion on conventional highways and city streets. Due to the completely controlled nature of AHS traffic, dynamic assignment of AHS traffic is even more promising. One added dimension of complex...

Towards a more accurate agent-based multi-lane highway simulation

The next several years will see an acceleration of the adoption of intelligent driving aid devices. Studying the impact of such devices on the overall traffic performance and safety requires highly realistic microscopic traffic simulation models, which account not only for the overall traffic flow, but also for the details and variability of the individual driver’s behavior. In this paper, we f...
